about

The first psychedelic guitarist ever on record, Barry Melton, joins forces with experimental guitarists Henry Kaiser and Tetuzi Akiyama for an entire album of blues-rock psychedelic boogies. Much in the tradition of the Canned Heat and the San Francisco psychedelic sound an all-star rhythm section paves the way for mind expansion via boogie with an outer limits guitar party that is both danceable and explosive.

The album title is derived from one of the tracks on this release; Kaiser tells us a story about one time when he was hanging out with John Lee Hooker and he played some improvised recording by his dear friend Derek Bailey for Hooker, who in turn said something to the effect of, "yeah but can he boogie".... If anyone were to dare ask that question of Henry Kaiser, the answer can indubitably be found here.
